THE NETHERLANDS

The Netherlands are organized in 12 provinces. Two of them are North Holland and South Holland. Holland had a great economic and maritime power during the 17th century and this is the reason why The Netherlands are known as Holland.

GEOGRAPHY

The geography of the Netherlands is unusual because is below the sea level and it's protected by dikes. The country has two areas, the low and flat in the west and north, and the higher with hills in the east and south. The Netherlands have a temperate maritime climate influenced by the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, with cool summers and moderate winters.


GOVERNMENT
The Netherlands have a constitutional monarchy with a parlamentary system of goverment. The Minister-President of The Netherlands since 2010 is Mark Rutte. He is the political party boss and member of the Cabinet.


LANGUAGES
The oficial language of The Netherlands is Dutch, a West Germanic language. It's also official in Aruba, Belgium, Curaçao, Flanders, Sint Maarten and Suriname.Some another reconigsed provincial languages and dialects:-Frisian: a co-official language in the province of Friesland.-English: official in some municipalities.-Papiamento: in the municipalitie of Bonaire.-Limburgish: in the province of Limburg.-Some other several dialects.


DEMOGRAPHICS
After the Second World War, a lot of people abandoned the country, but the immigration arrived from Morocco, Turkey and the Indian Dutch, and now beats the emigration.Now there is more population because of the developments of the medicine.


RELIGION
Now almost half of the population is irreligious, 25% Catholic, 5% PKN (The Protestant Church in the Netherlands), 1,1% Hinduism and Buddhism, 0,1% Judaism, 10% other protestants, and 5% other religions. (approximately)

MAASSLUIS

Maassluis is placed in the west side of Holland.

It's weather is very cold, with an slow and poor rain, very cold winters and not much hot summers. The sun rises very early and the night are very dark.
